Our commitment to customer satisfaction shows. As a member of the Better Business Bureau we have never had a single complaint from any customer in our 25 years in business. We have been repeatedly top-rated by Washington Consumer's Checkbook and have received the Angie’s List Super Service Award.
We put our customers first in everything we do. We’ll send an experienced technician (not a salesperson) to meet with you and design your system. We use only an experienced company technician (not a subcontractor) to install your system. We use only the finest separate component wireless systems (not easy-to-defeat, all-in-one systems used by mass-marketers). And we respond promptly to any request for service. Our monitoring agreement has two consumer protections we have not seen in any other company's contracts: a move-out release and a performance guarantee.
The President and Founder, Lenny Bianchi, initially became interested in electronics as a Boy Scout, where he attained the rank of Eagle. He designed his first "security system" at the age of 12, in 1963. To catch a trespasser on his parents' property, he used parts available in his parents' basement - namely a mousetrap, a bell, a battery, some wire and some string. The mousetrap acted as a switch. When the gate was opened the next morning, the attached string yanked the mousetrap, tripping it and completing the circuit, allowing the electricity to flow from the battery to the bell. The trespasser was caught!
In 1975 he started Excalibur Security in Alexandria, Virginia and in 1988, he started 5 Star Security. He is an electronics hobbyist at heart and enjoys designing and installing electronic security systems for his customers. Lenny is a native Washingtonian, and a lifetime resident of Northern Virginia. He has served as a volunteer firefighter in Loudoun and Clarke Counties.
Robin Brookman brings years of retail and customer service experience to 5 Star and has worked as our office manager and customer service rep since 2008. Any of our customers will tell you what a delight it is to speak with her to make an appointment or get their questions answered.
We are registered with the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services and have fingerprint cards filed with the F.B.I. as well as Virginia and Maryland State Police. We carry picture IDs and have had criminal background checks performed. We also attend factory training on the products we represent.
5 Star Security has been an exclusively wireless security company since 1992, longer than any other company in the D.C. Area. We are the Wireless Expert. We are licensed to do business in Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia.
